Kent Denver extended the longest winning streak in 2A Colorado this week by beating Ridgeview Academy, 42-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Sun Devils.
Sheridan made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,472 from 13,978. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 50-12 victory over Manual last week.
Joey Matarazzo and Jaden Franklin gave Kent Denver a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Matarazzo threw for 41 yards and one touchdown, while Franklin ran for 181 yards. Teammate Brannon Jones added to the ground attack by rushing for 94 yards.
Hunter Bell was the best wideout in the league this week as Bennett topped Denver West. Bell tallied two receptions for 63 yards. Tanner Wineland helped Bennett's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.
Tanner Adams made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Tigers bested the Cowboys. The defensive end racked up two sacks.
Bennett's Joshua Miller and Wineland have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Miller has thrown for 544 yards this season, while Wineland has six catches for 240 yards. Scott Yates's team's Franklin leads the league in rushing yards with 972.
The Sun Devils' Franklin is a mere 28 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in 2A Colorado this week will be when the Thunderbolts take on Rick Jacoby's team. As it stands, Manual is in fifth, while the Tigers are in second.
