The Fox Creek Predators had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They took down Batesburg-Leesville 56-38. That's another feather in the cap for Fox Creek, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Connor Cannon was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Fox Creek's points. Another player making a difference was Brelan Baskett, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ta'Maj Gilliam, who scored 15 points. Jr Stewart was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals and two blocks.
Fox Creek is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Batesburg-Leesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fox Creek will take on Westminster Schools of Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Westminster Schools of Augusta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday. As for Batesburg-Leesville, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Pelion at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
