Baseball Recap: Groveton Has No Trouble Against Pittsburg

While Groveton put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Pittsburg. The Eagles blew past the Panthers 22-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Brocton Meunier was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and five runs. Groveton is undefeated when Meunier posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Dylan Simino and Konner Shannon did most of the damage at the plate: Simino went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI, while Shannon got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Shannon has become a key player for Groveton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Hunter Parks was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Groveton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .816. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Groveton's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Pittsburg, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Coincidentally, Groveton and Pittsburg will both be playing Profile the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Eagles will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
