Damonte Ranch scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Carson, 17-14. At the time, the Senators was ranked 17th in the state, while the Mustangs was 40th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Damonte Ranch, who took down 17th ranked Carson, 17-14. Drew Smith ran for 100 yards and caught four passes for 26 yards in the win.
Douglas's dynamic duo of Michael Nolting and Dustan Fisher proved tough for Galena to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Nolting threw for 276 yards and five touchdowns and Fisher had 151 yards receiving. Conner Peterson helped Douglas' passing attack out by catching four balls for 57 yards.
The Tigers' Nolting and Fisher have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading I Northern - Sierra in both passing and receiving yards. Nolting has thrown for 1737 yards this season, while Fisher, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 47 catches for 939 yards. Smith from Shawn Dupris's team leads the league in rushing with 1098 yards.
Douglas' Fisher is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 61 receiving yards against the Mustangs to hit that benchmark.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Grizzlies take on Bishop Manogue. As it stands, Galena is in first, while the Miners are in fifth.
Nolting and Fisher provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Grizzlies. The connection was good for 75 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
