Softball Recap: Innovation Has No Trouble Against Colonial

Innovation won the last time they faced Colonial and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulls were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Grenadiers. The result was nothing new for the Bulls, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Berit Acker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Guiliana Rodriguez Fernandez and Serenity Alexander did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez Fernandez scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Alexander went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lyla Whigham was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Innovation's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Colonial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Innovation has already played their next contest, a 10-6 win against Lake Nona on the 11th. As for Colonial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-0 victory against Evans on the 10th.
