There's no place like home for Lincoln, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Burton Pumas a 19-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ventura Van-Zandt made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Anjali Evans was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofie Hwang, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Burton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will head out to challenge Lowell at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Balboa at 3:30 p.m. on the 24th.
