Charlotte Catholic has gone 9-1 against Marvin Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Last Tuesday, Charlotte Catholic got the win against East Mecklenburg by a conclusive 79-54. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Eagles are ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlotte Catholic can attribute much of their success to King Rhodes, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 16 points and seven boards, and Chris Eagan, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Eagan's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Luke Woeste also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Charlotte Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Marvin Ridge over Porter Ridge in every quarter on their way to victory last Tuesday. Marvin Ridge took down Porter Ridge 67-50.
Charlotte Catholic better keep an eye on Henry Smith. He was instrumental in Marvin Ridge's win, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. Those 24 points gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Dunn, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and five assists.
Charlotte Catholic's record now sits at 14-3. As for Marvin Ridge, their record is now 5-10.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Charlotte Catholic hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 70.5 points per game. However, it's not like Marvin Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 57.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Charlotte Catholic strolled past Marvin Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2021 by a score of 73-59. Will Charlotte Catholic repeat their success, or does Marvin Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
