The Clearfield Falcons had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 45-36 win over Roy. Given Clearfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Roy is ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clearfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabelle Wyaskett, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Wyaskett is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciara De La O, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Roy still got an impressive performance from Analeise Maharaj, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Jerzee Hart was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Clearfield pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Roy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Clearfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Bountiful at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bountiful knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Clearfield likes a good challenge. As for Roy, they will head out on the road to take on Woods Cross at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Woods Cross is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
