The Aquinas Monarchs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 82-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryant Stouffer, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Stouffer is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Dylan Andel was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Even though they lost, Aquinas were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Aquinas dropped their record down to 9-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Lincoln Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
Aquinas will be playing in front of their home fans against the Flyers on Tuesday. As for Lincoln Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Orangemen on Tuesday. One thing working in Beatrice's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
