The South Spencer Rebels will face off against the Washington Hatchets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
South Spencer came up short against Apollo on Monday, falling 10-2. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
South Spencer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ruthee Clark, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Washington came into Monday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Shoals on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hatchets needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Katie Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellycia Shartzer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Braleigh Armes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shoals only posted a batting average of .211.
South Spencer's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 2-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Spencer has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
South Spencer might still be hurting after the 19-9 defeat they got from Washington in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
