Elkhart has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Mexia Black Cats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elkhart will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1314th, while Mexia is ranked 401st).
Last Friday, Elkhart was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-48 to Groesbeck.
Meanwhile, even though Westwood scored an imposing 70 points on Tuesday, Mexia still came out on top. Mexia simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Westwood 98-70 at home. Mexia pushed the score to 84-48 by the end of the third, a deficit Westwood cut but never quite recovered from.
Elkhart's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Mexia, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season.
Elkhart was dealt a bruising 72-35 loss at the hands of Mexia when the teams last played on January 2nd. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Elkhart was down 33-12.
