Wingfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Oak Grove Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wingfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Oak Grove is ranked 124th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Wingfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Warren Central 49-46. The win was just what Wingfield needed coming off of a 45-12 defeat in their prior matchup.
Wingfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ni' Juenna Lacy out in front who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Katrina Collins, who scored 9 points along with 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Oak Grove earned a 51-38 win over Tylertown on Friday.
Wingfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 1-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.3 points per game. As for Oak Grove, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
