SouthLake Christian Academy came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Gaston Christian, falling 13-5.
SouthLake Christian Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Rodesiler, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Jackson Drayton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Carmel Christian faced off against Piedmont on Thursday. Carmel Christian put the hurt on Piedmont with a sharp 26-2 win.
Ryan Field was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Field was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Leyton Guhl was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Thomas Gaddy, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one double.
Carmel Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Piedmont only posted an OBP of .250.
SouthLake Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Carmel Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
SouthLake Christian Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. SouthLake Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Carmel Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will SouthLake Christian Academy continue to outrun the ball?
SouthLake Christian Academy came up short against Carmel Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 10-5. Can SouthLake Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
