The Basic Wolves will challenge the Legacy Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Basic managed to slip by Green Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Wolves came up short against the Gators on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Basic took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-21, 27-25.
Meanwhile, Legacy earned a 3-1 victory over Mojave on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Rattlers: they've now won nine in a row.
Legacy got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 29-31, 25-18, 26-24.
Basic better focus on containing Adrienne Coates and Arial Fox as the pair were huge in Legacy's win. Coates had 13 digs and three aces, while Fox had nine kills, eight digs, three aces, and one block. Fox is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Miy'Aja Diggs also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.
Legacy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Basic's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Legacy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Basic skirted past Legacy 3-2 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Longhorns' Miy'Aja Diggs, who had 12 digs and five aces. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Wolves still be able to contain Diggs? There's only one way to find out.
