Even though the Mallard Creek Mavericks have not done well against the West Charlotte Lions recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mallard Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against West Charlotte and snuck past 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Langston Boyd was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with seven assists. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Ridge, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, West Charlotte still got an impressive performance from Damani Day, who scored 25 points. Christian Coleman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Mallard Creek has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season. As for West Charlotte, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Mallard Creek will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hopewell at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Hopewell's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for West Charlotte, they will head out on the road to take on West Mecklenburg at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. West Mecklenburg is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
