Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Chapin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Silver Foxes will face off against the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Chapin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Jefferson is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 20 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Burges on Tuesday. They lost 13-1 to the Mustangs. The contest marked the Silver Foxes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Meanwhile, Chapin made easy work of El Paso on Tuesday and carried off a 23-6 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Addy Rocha, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kaylee Himes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Chapin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .793. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.
Chapin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-2-1.
Jefferson's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Silver Foxes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Chapin, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Jefferson continue to outrun the ball?
Jefferson suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Chapin in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Silver Foxes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
