The Lincoln Cougars can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 79-41 victory over Preston at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lincoln also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Ashlyn Riley was her usual excellent self, shooting 9-for-12 from deep and dropping a double-double on 41 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lincoln's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Davisson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameryn Sypolt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kendra Nazelrod, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Lincoln's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-8. As for Preston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Lincoln will head out on the road to face off against the Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (Grafton is ranked 38th, while the Cougars are ranked 46th).
