Baseball Recap: South Walton Snags 17th Win in Last 18 Games

South Walton extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Bay. They didn't even let the Tornadoes on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won 19 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

South Walton got a great performance from Denton Lord as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Lord has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Braxton Varnes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nathan Whitney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

South Walton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in six consecutive contests.

South Walton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bay, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-12.

As of now, neither South Walton nor the Tornadoes have any future games scheduled.
