McAlester is 8-1 against Durant since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The McAlester Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Durant Lions at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (McAlester is ranked 60th, while Durant is ranked 77th).
McAlester's and East Central's game on Thursday was close at halftime, but McAlester turned on the heat in the second half with 31 points. McAlester claimed a resounding 43-13 win over East Central on the road.
Ethan Watkins was on fire: he rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Watkins' longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Brayden Bumphus made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Durant came up short against Coweta on Thursday and fell 24-17.
With McAlester's win and Durant's defeat, both teams now sport identical 4-3 records.
