Having just played yesterday, the Washington County Golden Hawks will jump right back in to play the Washington-Wilkes Tigers at 1:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Washington County earned a 48-36 victory over Strom Thurmond. The win made it back-to-back wins for Washington County.
Washington County found their leader in underclassman Jade Kitchens, who scored 23 points along with three steals. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Tamia Thomas was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Washington-Wilkes beat Strom Thurmond 45-37 on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Washington-Wilkes' disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 416th in Georgia, while Strom Thurmond is ranked 145th in South Carolina).
Washington County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Washington-Wilkes, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
