The Waukesha West Wolverines will challenge the Greendale Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Waukesha West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Waukesha West's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Mukwonago. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.
Waukesha West got a great performance from Anna Dornbach as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Payton Hisel and Ashlee Barry did most of the damage at the plate: Hisel went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Barry went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Carlson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Waukesha West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Greendale scored first but ultimately less than Indian Trail in their matchup on Monday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-3 to the Hawks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Giselle Paszkiewicz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Waukesha West's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greendale, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Waukesha West hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Greendale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Waukesha West's way against Greendale in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Waukesha West made off with a 16-8 win. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
