Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is St. Clair's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

While St. Clair put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Utica. The Saints blew past the Chieftains 10-0. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Gracie Pickelhaupt made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madisyn Treat, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Brileigh Heasty was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

St. Clair was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Utica only posted a batting average of .062.

St. Clair has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Utica, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, St. Clair is taking a road trip to challenge Marysville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.77 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Utica, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sterling Heights Stevenson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chieftains are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
