Brian Griffith and Travis Ryan provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Wynne. The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in 5A East this season.
The Yellowjackets extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Greene County Tech, 48-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Golden Eagles' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Griffith threw for 93 and two touchdowns and Ryan had 109 yards receiving. On the ground Griffith chipped in 60 yards. Hunter Matheny helped Greene County Tech's passing attack out by catching three balls for 37 yards.
Garret Latham made the biggest impact on defense this week as Greene County Tech fell to Chris Hill's team. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed one interception.
Greene County Tech's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Golden Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dylan Hartwig has thrown for 1087 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Ryan has 24 catches for 359 yards. Tyler Calver leads the league in rushing with 347 yards.
A big matchup in 5A East this week will be when Batesville takes on Forrest City. As it stands, the Pioneers are in third, while the Mustangs are in second.
Batesville was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Dave King's team vanquished Paragould 38-6 earlier in the week.
