Elgin waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the Ridgemont Golden Gophers. That's more bragging rights for the Comets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

It was another big night for Maycee Muselin, who went 13 of 23 en route to 32 points along with seven boards and six steals. Kadence Gear was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Ridgemont still got an impressive performance from Kylie Shreve, who posted 15 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Elsasser, who put up five points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Elgin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Ridgemont, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elgin will take on Lima Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ridgemont, they will challenge Crestline at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
