Softball Recap: Napavine Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Adna, Napavine was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Morton/White Pass Timberwolves as they made off with a 26-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Dakota Lyons made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Grace Pancake was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Gilbert, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Napavine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .635. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morton/White Pass only posted an OBP of .391.

Napavine is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Morton/White Pass, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Napavine will face off against Toutle Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ducks have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Morton/White Pass, they will square off against Mossyrock at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
