Timber Creek's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Lyman.
Timber Creek got a massive performance out of Rowyn Joyce, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Rachel Lovelace also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Timber Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Apopka waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Hornets 17-0. Give the Blue Darters' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Ava Millspaugh made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Mia Aeschilman looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Ava Gonzalez and Taylor Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double. Hagan Mcgatlin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Timber Creek has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Apopka, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.
Timber Creek suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Apopka in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
