Given Rancho Solano Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Veritas Prep is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rancho Solano Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sagith Vargas, who scored 18 points along with six assists and four steals. Vargas has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Miller, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hopi walked away with it. They slipped by the CHARGERS 80-79 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
