The Swainsboro Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Bleckley County Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Swainsboro comes in on eight and Bleckley County on five.
Swainsboro put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They blew past East Laurens 63-0 at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Swainsboro had established a 57 point advantage.
Among those leading the charge was Qindaruis Brown, who rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns. Ja'bios Smith was another major influence, as he rushed for 70 yards and ran in a TD.
The team's defense also helped out by holding East Laurens to a paltry 48 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Swainsboro's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Jylerris Williams and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, Bleckley County put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by East Laurens on the road to the tune of 42-13. 42 seems to be a good number for Bleckley County as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bleckley County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Stanley, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Cam Beck was in the mix as well, providing Bleckley County with two touchdowns.
Swainsboro's victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.3 points per game. As for Bleckley County, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Swainsboro and Bleckley County haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Swainsboro commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Bleckley County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Swainsboro was able to grind out a solid win over Bleckley County when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 28-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bleckley County's Jahvon Butler, who rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Swainsboro to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
