The Centura Centurions suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Saturday. Their rough 59-36 loss to Centennial might stick with them for a while. Centura has not had much luck with Centennial recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Centura lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mason Gorecki. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devin Slawnyk led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Hirschfeld, who scored 14 points.
Centura's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Centennial, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centura will square off against St. Paul at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Paul is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Centennial, they will head out on the road to face off against Fillmore Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
