Baseball Recap: Bear River Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bear River won against Green Canyon on Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Bears never let the Wolves get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Bears have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Broxton Gardner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dallen Rice was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

The victory (which was Bear River's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Green Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bear River will take on Cottonwood at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Green Canyon, they will challenge Morgan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
