The Sunset Apollos's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 victory over Westview. This was payback for Sunset, who suffered a 51-29 loss the last time these two teams met.
Sunset got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Morris-rexford out in front who scored 14 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Kalli Gallagher, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Westview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleah Medeiros, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Dara Oluwafemi was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Sunset is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Westview, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Sunset will face off against the Mavericks at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Westview's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Beaverton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
