The Grand Oaks Grizzlies will head out on the road to challenge the Conroe Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Grand Oaks took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They really took it to New Caney for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-7 victory. With the Grizzlies ahead 26-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Grand Oaks' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Keilan Gause, who rushed for 129 yards and two scores on only 12 carries, and Grant Smith, who threw for 90 yards and three TDs. That's the most passing touchdowns Smith has posted since back in October of 2024.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grand Oaks was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Another reason for the win was Grand Oaks' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Kyson Morgan and Cullen Thompson, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Conroe hadn't done well against Oak Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Tigers walked away with a 38-29 win over the War Eagles. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Conroe and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Grand Oaks, their record is now 4-2.
Grand Oaks lost to Conroe on the road by a decisive 31-14 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Grizzlies, Christian Nunley (who rushed for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 56 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
