The West Carroll War Eagles will face off against the Middleton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Carroll has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 31.
Gleason hit West Carroll with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The War Eagles took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 28, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Cole McMinn was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last four games. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. West Carroll is 2-1 when McMinn posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-18-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Eli Bryant made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Harlan Hames was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Middleton faced off against Fayette Ware on Thursday. The Tigers came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 15-10.
The team relied heavily on Brody Cornelius, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Tony Street also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Middleton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Middleton's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for West Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Carroll has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Middleton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went West Carroll's way against Middleton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as West Carroll made off with a 12-1 win. Will the War Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
