After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lanham Christian, the Thomas Stone Cougars were happy to have found some success on Friday. They wrapped up 2023 with a 65-47 win over West Springfield. That 65-47 margin sets a new team best for Thomas Stone this season.
Thomas Stone was led to victory by Jonas Agyeman and Ty Woodland. Agyeman scored 21 points, while Woodland dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Agyeman's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ahmad Thames, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Thomas Stone has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for West Springfield, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thomas Stone and Patuxent will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Patuxent will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Thomas Stone is ranked 95th). West Springfield and Lake Braddock will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Braddock is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
