The Sacopee Valley Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Oak Hill Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Oak Hill took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Sacopee Valley, who comes in off a win.
Sacopee Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Old Orchard Beach on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Seagulls 15-1. The Hawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Charlotte Cyr and Aly Eastman were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cyr tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Eastman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Cyr went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Eastman went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Eastman a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sacopee Valley got a massive performance out of Adaline Wright, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridget Landry, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Oak Hill was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Valley. The match marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Like Sacopee Valley, Oak Hill also got a great game from a two-way player: Izzy Whitaker. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Whitaker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Whitaker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carlee Austin, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Oak Hill now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Sacopee Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sacopee Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oak Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sacopee Valley might still be hurting after the 20-11 defeat they got from Oak Hill in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
