Basketball Recap: Tyler Albert's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Millard South over Westview

Millard South has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 82-76 heartbreaker at the hands of the Westview Wolverines. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Albert, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. The dominant performance gave Albert a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Thomalla, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Millard South's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Westview, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Millard South and Westview should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Millard South (ranked sixth) will meet Omaha North (ranked 90th) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Millard South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Westview (ranked 15th) will meet Bryan (ranked 265th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
