Make it nine blowout wins for the Rockwell Marshals this season. They breezed by Merit Preparatory Academy at home to the tune of 96-50 on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for Rockwell who now have four in a row.
Rockwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Henderson led the charge by scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Henderson hasn't dropped below 15 points for 12 straight games. Roman Haueter was another key contributor, scoring 27 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Merit Preparatory Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Allan Mendonca. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Mendonca has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Miles Petersen, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Rockwell's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.1 points per game. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockwell will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
