The Ironwood Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 48-21 loss at the hands of Casteel. While losing is never fun, Ironwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Casteel is ranked 78th).
Casteel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackie Rosado led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven steals and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rosado has scored at least 25% of Casteel's points. Keeli Duncan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Ironwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Casteel, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Ironwood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sunrise Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Casteel won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Desert Mountain has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22.
