The Cherokee Trail Cougars put another one in the bag  on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Springfield by a score of  61-52. Given Cherokee Trail's advantage  in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states  (they are ranked second in Colorado, while Springfield is ranked 32nd in Oregon), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Cherokee Trail found their leader in underclassman  Karson Chaney, who  scored 17 points along with five  rebounds and three  steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of  Damara Allen, who  dropped  a double-double on ten points and 12  rebounds.
 Cherokee Trail's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Springfield,  this is  the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 3-2.
 Cherokee Trail won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Bishop O'Dowd at 4:30  p.m.  on December 19th. Bishop O'Dowd is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Springfield will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Willamette at 6:45  p.m.  on January 3, 2024.
