Given New Life Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Berean Baptist Academy is ranked 329th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Life Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaleb James led the charge by scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. James hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Jaheim Faison was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
The win (which was New Life Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 12-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Berean Baptist Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Life Christian Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Northwood Temple Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Northwood Temple Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,140 points over their last 15 contests. As for Berean Baptist Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Fayetteville Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Cristian Sias and Antrell Gilmore.
