The Poplarville Hornets were the 34-32 winner over the Picayune Maroon Tide when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Poplarville fell 43-34 to Picayune on Friday.
When it comes to explaining why Poplarville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tameah Bester. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Aniriah Galloway, who scored 8 points.
Poplarville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Picayune, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Poplarville will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Gautier at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for Picayune, they will be playing at home against Our Lady Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
