Meadowbrook Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Hernando Christian Academy on Tuesday and snuck past 52-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Meadowbrook Academy.
Meadowbrook Academy found their leader in underclassman Tico Smith, who scored 27 points along with 6 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Meadowbrook Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaige Daugherty, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Hernando Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaden Montzka, who scored 15 points, and Caydon Williams who scored 15 points. Montzka scored a full 30% of Hernando Christian Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carson Hedick, who scored 6 points.
Meadowbrook Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Hernando Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meadowbrook Academy and St. John Lutheran will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. John Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday. As for Hernando Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against American Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in American Collegiate Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
