Softball Game Preview: Monroe Academy Volunteers vs. Snook Christian Academy Eagles

Monroe Academy has gone a perfect 3-0 against Snook Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Monroe Academy Volunteers will challenge the Snook Christian Academy Eagles at 12:30 p.m. Monroe Academy will be strutting in after a win while Snook Christian Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Monroe Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by an 18-0 margin over Sparta Academy. The Volunteers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Mia Shadburn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Shadburn was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs.

In other batting news, Ella Grace Stabler and Mia Ramer did most of the damage at the plate: Stabler scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Ramer scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Ayla Harris, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Monroe Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Snook Christian Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morgan Academy.

Snook Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Lovin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Monroe Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Snook Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 4-0. Does Monroe Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Snook Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
