The Live Oak Acorns can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 62-49 win over Leland. The win was all the more spectacular given Live Oak's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1187th, while the Chargers are ranked 554th).
Live Oak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raymond Ramirez, who scored 30 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ramirez has scored all season. Nathan Lozano was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists and three steals.
Live Oak's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17. As for Leland, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Live Oak's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hill has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 471 points over their last seven games. As for Leland, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
