It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the North Cross Raiders had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed by Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at home to the tune of 35-0. The win was familiar territory for North Cross who now have six in a row.
The critical scores for North Cross came from Jesiah Hines and Jaziel Hart.
The team won by holding Nansemond-Suffolk Academy to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to North Cross' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out 6.5 times before it was all said and done. Eason Zhou was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up 3.5 sacks himself.
North Cross has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
North Cross will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Blue Ridge at 1:00 p.m. Blue Ridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
