The Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks will face off against the South Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cornerstone Charter Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Cornerstone Charter Academy came up short against Foundation Academy and fell 10-5.
Cornerstone Charter Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Pynes, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kenzie Boisvert was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when South Lake took on Viera on Thursday. The Eagles skirted past the Hawks 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
The team relied heavily on Marissa Weaver, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Alex Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
South Lake lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Cornerstone Charter Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season. As for South Lake, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Cornerstone Charter Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cornerstone Charter Academy beat South Lake 5-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Ducks repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
