Football Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Pinecrest Academy Cadence

Green Valley came into Saturday's match looking for another win against Pinecrest Academy Cadence, but Leyton Gasperosky wouldn't allow it. The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars strolled past the Green Valley Gators with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 27-13 thanks in part to Gasperosky, who threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 23-for-23 passing. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in passer rating (173.4).

Despite the loss, Green Valley still got an impressive performance from Lyla Baxter, who picked up 136 receiving yards and one touchdown. Baxter showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 60 yards. Green Valley also got a significant boost from Aundrea Velez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

The win was the third in a row for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points per game. As for Green Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-0 loss against Southeast Career Tech on the 21st. As for Green Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mojave at 4:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
