Two dominant backs in Jarid Gamiz and Daveon Singleton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Canutillo Eagles will host the Chapin Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Canutillo's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Jefferson to the tune of 59-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Silver Foxes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Cesar Huerta was his usual excellent self, rushing for 18 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Canutillo's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Canutillo proved: they limited Jefferson to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Miguel Capatillo for the heroic effort on defense: he. Canutillo is a perfect 3-0 when they shut down the run game so well.
Canutillo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Elijah Martinez.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chapin). They blew past El Paso, posting a 56-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Chapin's win came from a few key players Canutillo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joshua Martel, who rushed for 56 yards and two scores on only seven carries. Fabian Ortiz was another key player, rushing for 84 yards and one TD on only ten carries.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Chapin, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything came up roses for Canutillo against Chapin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-7 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
