Even though the Foard Tigers scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Maiden Blue Devils still came out on top. Maiden enjoyed a cozy 71-55 victory over Foard. Given Maiden's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Foard is ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Maiden to victory were Zion White and Lincoln Frasure. White scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists, while Frasure scored 18 points along with 5 assists. Gerald Danner was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Holden Caldwell, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists. Another player making a difference was Graham Orndoff, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Maiden and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Foard, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Maiden will be playing in front of their home fans against Patton at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Foard, they will head out on the road to face off against Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cherryville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
