They managed a 28-24 win over Espanola Valley. For St. Michael's, this counts as revenge for the 46-36 loss Espanola Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
St. Michael's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jada Lujan led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. Ceciliana Ruiz was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
St. Michael's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. As for Espanola Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
St. Michael's and Hope Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Hope Christian is ranked 73rd, while St. Michael's is ranked 48th).
